--- It's a short version:
It's a short underline of the name Enid --- the emphasis of the "d" makes a complete emphasis of the name "Enid". So it was not important to underline the complete forename. The emphasis of the forename gives the complete name a touch of excellence -- regalness.
Maybe her own pronunciation could give also the solution of the riddle. ...
it's with self-confidence, I would say. But I don't find the clip in the moment.

There was sometimes just one line...
Even in informal notes to her own children the lines appear.
