Gateway Monthly special Enid Blyton issue

Hi there. Gateway Monthly for December will be an Enid Blyton special issue, with a full review of the titles currently published and in print (in the UK). If anyone would care to write anything at all about Enid and her books, I'd be happy to publish it. No payment, I'm afraid, as Gateway is run on a shoestring and makes no money, but you'd be in jolly good company! E-mail anything you like to me at paulenorman@yahoo.co.uk

Link now removed as the website address has been taken over by someone else and is far from Blytonian!

Good to see you here, Paul!

(To other forumites:) I've known Paul for a year or so and he's a Blytonite at heart. He was even kind enough to post a selection of my Find-Outer stuff from my site, way back when my site was new. It's weird seeing it again now, because it's like a (slightly edited) snapshot from the way the site used to look.

Anyway, Paul, it seems Duncan McLaren's new book, Looking for Enid, has refueled your inner-Blyton, so I'll be very interested to see your Blyton Special. I'll also be interested to read comments and reactions from your regular visitors; this would be a lot of exposure for Blyton, and perhaps you can reach a few who have never bothered reading her stuff (the fools!).

Nice to start the day by reading the review of my book in your November issue, Paul. Thanks very much. The interview seems to make sense also (to me at least). Pity it all has to get tucked away into the archive at the end of the month. But then as December's issue is billed as an Enid Blyton special I suppose that'll be compensation enough!

A very enjoyable interview, Paul (and Duncan!) When reading interviews in newspapers or magazines one often gets the feeling that replies have been truncated owing to lack of space, or skewed to fit a particular agenda, so it's refreshing to read a review containing full and considered responses to the questions.

I think you're right about Enid Blyton's writing retaining a vividness and freshness even for adult readers, Duncan. One of the great strengths of her work is that her prose is so fluent, dynamic and rhythmic.

I also enjoyed reading that interview.

It looks like an interesting site and I must have another look around there.

Paul, you mention The Rockingdown Mystery in your review. I've posted something regarding that enthralling book in the Gilbert Dunlop thread in the 'Illustrators' section of the Forums.

Anita, might be of interest to you too.

After reading Paul Norman's post from 2007, I decided to have a look at his Gateway Monthly magazine, but his link took me to an Eastern website. Can anyone explain why this happened?

It's Japanese and, however it got there, it's something to do with, er, "adult" content. I think a moderator had better remove the link ASAP, as it's obviously not at all appropriate for an Enid Blyton website.

Link now removed.

Thanks, Courtenay.

The link also appears on the other Paul Norman post : in the New to the EB Soc thread from 5th October 2007 and so needs to be removed too.

Link now removed.

Don't worry, Nigel, the photos were only borderline explicit and all the wording was in Japanese.

If I didn't understand what a woman is talking about, that would be a bonus. There are many Englishwomen I can't understand :D
