Valley of the Dinosaurs was the name of an American children's cartoon when I was a kid. It didn't involve Enid Blyton, however.

It does look pretty well done — going by what we see from the trailer, I'm guessing the "Valley of the Dinosaurs" is called that because there are dinosaur fossils there, not because there are actual real live dinosaurs there. Well, I assume. (Five Go to Jurassic Park... now there's a thought. )

It's interesting that they have kept not only the English names, but also the English pronunciation. They don't even have a J sound in German, do they? But Julian and George keep their Js. Both of them, in George's case.

Interesting as well that the first 3 films were rated fsk0, or suitable for all, by German cinemas, and the fourth is fsk6, or suitable for 6 year olds. But Amazon is selling them with a 15 certificate!

Not in "originally" German words but some English names/words aren't uncommon like for example Jessica, Jeans, Job, Jazz, joggen/Jogging, Jury...
Julian and George (which would be normally Georg in German) aren't usually pronounced the English way, though.

Thanks for that. If I came across any of those words when I "learned" the language long, long ago (1978-82 actually) I would have assumed they were pronounced with a Y sound at the beginning. I should imagine it's quite a difficult skill to assimilate a sound that's entirely foreign to the language, is it? When we take German (or any other nationality) words into English, we anglicize them so they fit our pronunciation - eg. Dachshund is pronounced Daks-und, perhaps with a slight H sound, and definitely with a D not T at the end; Sauerkraut is pronounced with an S sound at the start. (That's not restricted to German. For example, Cucuracha in spanish was "translated" to cockroach.)

I've heard Roger Federer pronounces "Roger" the English way as well. No idea why. Whether he's Swiss-French or Swiss-German, it wouldn't sound like it does in English.

I'm not sure if the pronunciation has changed since then - and maybe there were less of those words/names back then. I'm born in 1985 and I've grown up with words like Jeans and several Jessicas, Jennifer/Jenny and one Janine in my age group.

I think some people who never learned English pronounce(d) it with a J sound if they have come across the word in written form for the first time (because they simply don't know otherwise) - my grandmother did, but it seemed very uncommon to me.
