It's imprinted PAL REGION 4 but they're indeed region free.

Yes, Wolfgang, I am.

We're happy that this DVD box set finally came out some months ago.

We wished that such comprehensive kind of booklet also had beed included in the UK release.
Unfortunately we had some major differences of opinion on certain aspects of the UK DVD booklet with the releasing company...
Therefore, we had exited our positions in the UK DVD booklet.

Here a small insight into the Australian 32-page DVD booklet:

Thanks a lot to all who have contributed to this DVD booklet (see below), you did a really great job!

All best wishes,

Karl

This box set is real. I have it. Unfortunately I broke the glass on the torch while dropping it by accident, which also caused the bulb to flicker. But it is a great set.

Sorry to hear about your torch.

In some adventures dropping the torch made it break and in others I think the torch carried on shining. I can't remember any account in detail except this one at present:
Lou caught hold of George as she came out of the tunnel — and at the same moment Julian managed to kick high in the air, and knocked Lou's torch right out of his hand. It flew up into the roof of the cave and fell somewhere with a crash. It went out. Now the cave was in darkness.

That has to be one of the worst, most lifeless Betty Maxey illustrations I've ever seen! Compare Eileen Soper's, which shows movement, action, excitement. Maxey's looks like someone being supported while they learn how to do high-kicks, while someone else is demonstrating how to make a torch levitate.
'Oh voice of Spring of Youth
hearts mad delight,
Sing on, sing on, and when the sun is gone
I'll warm me with your echoes
through the night.'

I fear this Maxey illustration is not going to win John over!

From some angles, it looks as if Julian's high kicks have made his trousers fall down a bit..

Betty Maxey's illustration does include one of the Bee Gees though, so kudos must go to her for that!

Or is it a 1970's Jeremy Corbyn?

Hi all,

I have finally got around to capturing some images from my FF DVDs hoping for better and cleaner results than grabbing stills off YouTube.

Does anyone find the episodes to have a distinct yellowish cast about them? I am not sure if overseas copies suffered the same issues. I have the blue cover version ( same as the one in this adventurers pack ) and assume that the source material is the same.

It is also apparent that they have well and truly bumped up the brightness in the simulated night scenes .. when the children are looking out the window to wait for UQ to signal for example , it’s pretty much daytime!

The worst vandalism was the removal of the Southern ident from the end of the episode... the theme song hits its final notes but the picture just freezes. A big loss to me as this was part and parcel of the episodes ... in Oz the Southern ident was not often seen.

Anyone else notice this? Or is there anyone out there whose DVD copies seem to have escaped this doctoring?

Have you tried these stills from the 70's series, FFD? I suspect you probably have, though. They're not too bad and they do come in use for reference purposes from time to time. :D
