As soon as you click Steve's first link it automatically redirects to the second link (without the ss of course) so it is, essentially, the same link.
So all you need to do then is put the ss in.

Ah, well, I've not updated mine in a while. Any PUP is probably some stoopid toolbar it tries to install.yarvelling wrote:"Freemake" was once very good, but at some point, unwanted element were introduced... "Malwarebytes", one of the leading programmes for getting rid of malware, rootkits, and other nasties, has found what is known as a 'PUP' (Potentially Unwanted Programme - a form of malware) being included with "Freemake". Also, "Freemake" has started to stick a watermark logo on the end of every recording you do with it - I find that annoying!
I use an older pre-PUP & logo version solely for converting video files if I need to.

I must add my thanks to Paul for pointing this out.
I always feel that these series should be watched as they were originally broadcast as individual episodes (the same goes for the BBC Narnia series which they stuck out in mammoth 3 hour chunks).
The first episode of this is very nicely done and sets the scene well. Very little really happens but the music helps to add to the tension and the ending is pretty dramatic. I know that they took some liberties when adapting the book but I think this will remain unsurpassed in terms of Blyton adaptations.
I also remember that when I was a child I asked my mum to get me a coat like Jack`s.

I've been watching this these last couple of days and am so glad that it's the whole thing rather than the cut episodes I was watching before, there are some lovely scenes in this that were cut from the other!
Did anyone else find Aunt Jane too smug? The more I watch it the more I find myself not liking her very much - she seems far too smug all the time - when she talks to Allie (she sounds so patronising when she says "You get back to your masterpiece"), when she's staying with the children (she looks so full of herself when she's phoned Allie and Allie asks to speak to Philip about going to the castle), when Bill turns up to visit, I wish she had been portrayed as a more caring sort of person and a bit warmer.
Incidentally I wonder what relation she is supposed to be? She's obviously close to Allie's mother, as she is there with her, but she can't be Allie's sister because she called her mother 'your mother' when she is talking to Allie, whereas she would say 'our mother' or just 'mother' if they were sisters.

Yeah it definitely is, you can see straight away from the photo, his smiley eyes, exactly the same as Jack!

I have just checked Hugo Guthrie up on IMDb and I see that Castle of Adventure is his only listed acting role.

Nice to see that he has gone on to do so well...
Now an interview with him would be fascinating to read.

Despite this TVS appears to have it's own YouTube Channel, with all eight episodes of "Castle" available to view! So, if you haven't seen the whole thing, just the excellent but truncated VHS release, now's your chance!
Hi Paul, I have this on DVD:

Is this the uncut version?
And where can I find the other "Castle" discussion?

Hi, the version you link to isn't the one we're talking about. That is the New Zealand series very loosely based on the Adventure books. We're talking about the UK version from TVS broadcast in 1990. The version I've linked to at the start of this thread is the uncut version of that (in episodes) rather than the edited VHS release.
A thread about the one you're looking at is here http://www.enidblytonsociety.co.uk/foru ... =22&t=3601" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The other TVS 1990 thread I was referring to is here: http://www.enidblytonsociety.co.uk/foru ... =22&t=1124" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Thanks, Paul, I will watch the links that you posted. I didn't know there was a previous British TV series on my favorite Adventure series of books..I only knew about the one from NZ. How exciting!

As far as I know, only two books were ever filmed in UK - Island of Adventure and Castle of Adventure. I have Castle, but it's the edited VHS version.

While I have "Island of adventure" (http://www.enidblytonsociety.co.uk/book ... %28Film%29), in my opinion a rather unsuccesful combination of the film and Enid Blyton's book, I'm still looking for a copy of the second book (http://www.enidblytonsociety.co.uk/book ... e+%28TV%29).
Success is 10% inspiration and 90% perspiration.
