Interesting link Anita. I can't say I'd ever heard of it either, but 1987 is the wrong era for me to have been watching Noddy. Too old to watch it as a child, and too early to be watching it with my own children. Bits of the narration sounded like Bernard Cribbins, but others didn't. Maybe there was more than one person, or perhaps he has a better range of voices than I've given him credit for.

I'm keeping out of this one - save to say that a comment under the video says, "RIP Narrator Richard Briers"!!!

No arguments there, Anita. That's definitely Bernard Cribbins.

In the first quote, I was referring to my comments on the Vymura Ad. I wasn't trying to differentiate between Impersonations and Impressions. It is arguable that only Frank Gorshin did impressions (and I don't mean in Batman). They were often very fleeting. I wonder if anyone else remembers him doing Burt Lancaster and Kirk Douglas from Gunfight at the OK Corral .

I got ten German DVDs of "Make Way For Noddy" today. I just wonder I'm going to watch them...

Just found an episode on YouTube of the 1950s puppet Noddy TV series (The Adventures of Noddy):

There's also a 1963 pilot episode for a Noddy cartoon series (produced by Arthur Humberstone Films) but the series was never made in the end:

Merged with an existing thread which mentions the same episode.

There's a video on YouTube showing a clip from an early 1990s episode of Why Don't You?, in which a boy visits Cosgrove Hall to look at the animation process behind Noddy's Toyland Adventures. The Noddy segment is interrupted by a group of children playing an alphabet name game, but then carries on.

Some interesting snippets:

Each ten-minute episode of Noddy's Toyland Adventures took 14 days to film.

1 second of film consisted of 25 frames.

The model figures had metal skeletons with latex 'skin' over the top.

Noddy's car was created by taking a silicone cast from a plasticine model, and then laying it up in fibre glass. A special seat was made for Big Ears, with a section cut out to accommodate his large bottom.

I may not be a massive fan of the Noddy books but I do like the models!
