Yes, inquiring minds want to know - what did you think of it?
"It's the ash! It's falling!" yelled Julian, almost startling Dick out of his wits...
"Listen to its terrible groans and creaks!" yelled Julian, almost beside himself with impatience.

I have mixed feelings after having decided to watch it....

Although there was humor in it,it actually left me feeling rather sad. It's ruthless analysis and deconstruction of all that the Famous Five have come to represent, both in the past and in the present made me analyze and question myself and my own Enid Blyton value system.

Talking personally,am I an optimistic lover and appreciator of all our Enid Blyton culture and heritage,a keeper of the flame of a brilliant and fantastically gifted author whose work and literary inspiration resonates down through the decades...........or just a sad old geezer clinging pathetically to outmoded and outdated lifestyles and characters that even back in their own generation did not truthfully capture the honest zeitgeist of post war Britain?

I have decided to re watch the original Five Go Mad in Dorset again to compare its sentiments and outlook with the latest program.
It may be that this current program is clouding my thinking and making me unable to see the wood for the trees!

Regards

Pete

Yes, you have a valid point there, Pete. When I saw it I felt that there was an underlining sadness, but I did enjoy the ending and the children who loved the Five.

But all in all, as I've said before. It was disappointing for me, and it's not one I'll be watching over and over again!

Julie,as Alan Partridge would say,"Aha!"..You may have helped me here,as I stopped watching it just over three quarters of the way into it as it was making me feel too sad!

I will manfully watch the last quarter and see if the ending makes me feel any better about it!
Gosh, these comedy script writer chappies certainly know how to cut to a man's heart-It was like an interview with Piers Morgan!

I've just written a review of this for the blog and I'd like to include some quotes from this thread from Pete, Poppy, Tony, Nigel, Eddie, Shadow, Daisy and Chloe.

If anyone would prefer I didn't use their post on the blog please say so and I won't use it.

That's OK Fiona. I had to search right back to page one to see what I'd said - although I knew the gist of it.
