Pointless

Post by gazza »

Did anybody see the quiz show pointless last night. The couple that got to the final were asked the question?
can you name any three titles of Enid Blyton Famous Five books and they couldn,t name any. I just couldn,t believe it,they could have won over £5000. I wish i hadn,t read any of Enid,s books then i,d have the joy of reading them again for the first time.

Argh, I can't believe I missed that one! I usually watch that show.

I'm not sure which ones I'd guess as pointless though. Ones like 'Wonderful Time' or 'Adventuring Again' where the title doesn't tell you anything about the story maybe?
"It's the ash! It's falling!" yelled Julian, almost startling Dick out of his wits...
"Listen to its terrible groans and creaks!" yelled Julian, almost beside himself with impatience.

I would have liked to have seen that, I was watching the chaser. There was a question about Enid Blyton/Famous Five, the other day, can't remember what quiz show it was on. It may have been an old Block Busters !

One of the questions in the Chase was, Who wrote the Famous Five Books!

8)
Julian gave an exclamation and nudged George.
"See that? It's the black Bentley again. KMF 102!"

Just shows how much attention I pay to the chaser, I thought the question was on the chaser ! No idea why i said block busters, probably because I saw an old re run, and thats what stuck in my mind

I saw the very end of 'Pointless' when I turned on BBC1 for the News. There were actually nine Famous Five books that were pointless - I remember, Fall into Adventure, Secret Trail, Plenty of Fun, Billycock Hill and Are Together Again, but I should have been paying better attention!

I think that other pointless answers were:
Five on Kirrin Island again
Five go to Billycock Hill
Five go to Demon's Rocks
Five on Finiston Farm.
If only we had been in the position to win that money!

I missed that one, usually it's on when I come home from work.
Some of the questions are so easy - it's the sport ones where I fall down.
I went on some great adventures reading the Famous Five books.

Did anyone happen to see this on BBC One on Tuesday?

The final question was to name a Famous Five novel that none of the audience had... they couldn't do it (I, however, had 2 correct answers)

I don't normally watch the programme, but did see the end of Wednesday's programme. I've just watched the end of Tuesday's on I-player, and am pleased to report I'd have probably won the £5,000 prize. I also had 2 correct answers. :D

So did I - I couldn't believe they couldn't even think of one title!

Missed it. I wonder what the most pointless answer was though - which book!

My workmate told me about it so I just watched it on iPlayer. It's available till 5.59 pm on Tuesday 23rd July: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0 ... pisode_44/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. It starts about 35 minutes in.

It's frustrating as a Blyton fan watching them struggling for an answer! 'Five go on holiday' indeed!
