The tower inside Burley Manor has been blocked off now-excuse the pun! I wanted to go up in Blocks tower, the stairwell that went up there has been covered over with a wall now.
I was so excited when I found his tower round the back of the manor. I have pictures too but don't know how to up load here as I'm using an iPad.

I found some interesting information whilst there. In the village of Burley is the Queens head pub. There are tunnels under the pub that go all the way to the manor!! When they found them in the 50's they found guns, and other goods down there. The landlord of the pub was telling us, it was used by smugglers.
However those tunnels are boarded up too, disappointingly would of been a good "tourist" tour of the village/part of the new forest.

How interesting Helenbee.

Sounds like you had a great stay at Burley Manor. You'd recommend it then? :)

Hi Julie

It was our 2nd stay this year. Highly recommend staying there. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Food is also good. What's nice is that it's not too big so it doesn't feel over crowded.
My bf never watched ff as a kid, it was only at the start of the new when we stayed in the NF at a different location that I started googling ff locations and when we went to burley manor to see it he loved it and now insists that's the only place we will stay when we go down there! I have made him watch Smugglers top now and he liked it, surprised the manor hasn't really changed.

Interesting about the tunnels, Helenbee!

I think uploading photos from an iPad would be the same as from a desktop - they'd need to be uploaded to Photobucket or another picture-hosting site first, and then you could paste the image tags into a forums post.

May just try it then Helenbee when we're next in the area. :)

For photos I always use Tinypic, I find it easy to use and all you do is copy and paste the link and you're there. :)

Sounds like you had a great time at Burley Manor, Helenbee. I've been to the Queens Head pub on a few occasions during my visits to the New Forest. I knew it's connections (& Burley's) with smuggling, but I never knew about the tunnels. Would be great to be able to explore them one day! Did you take photos of Burley village during your stay? :D

Hi number 6

I didn't know about the smuggling there so hearing that made it feel "more famous five!" I'd love to go down there too!
Yup got pics of burley village-all the ff spots from smugglers episode! As well as just the village on the whole, donkeys and horses just walking in the road!

What did you do work wise on the 70's series?

No, I didn't actually work on the 70's series, if that's what you mean! I've just done a lot of research into the locations, that's all. :D
Did you look at the rear of Burley Manor & see the tower where Block signalled from? I hope you did!

I'm not sure Adrian was even born when we made it, or you must've been very young at least, yes?

I was 13 years old. Just a wee bit younger than you, Gary! Back then, I wished that I would one day meet the child actors from the F5 series. That wish came true. I ended up meeting you all...except, sadly, Michele.
