It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

I was in the UK in 2008, but not before 10th of August, so I missed the 2008 EB Day.
And then I went back to the UK last year in May, but there was no EB Day in Twyford (sp?). However, several EBS forumites came to the Spade Oak in Bourne End, so my husband and I met them for the very first time. I'm very happy that I had that chance.

1970s FF TV Series - A Few Questions
Merged with an older topic.
Hi all
I'm new to this site since the weekend after spending the weekend in the New Forest and coming across a few locations from the 1970's tv series of the FF.
I was so happy and made up, plus thanks to this site it gave me info on what villages to go too.
I have a few questions.....
I found the lovely smugglers top, had my picture outside, however I never went inside. I Was wondering if smugglers top was actually filmed inside Burkey Manor hotel? Or elsewhere?
Also, where was Five on a hike filmed? The deserted house?

Nope the interiors of both were inside Exbury House, home to pretty much 99% of our interiors. We used it like a TV studio and built sets everywhere.

Re: TV locations for the Famous Five series
Hello everyone,
Last week I traveled to the New Forest for the first time. I wanted to explore the TV locations from the 78/79 series and visit the sites as the actors have witnessed them. Before the trip, I had printed out stills from the series in order to know the exact locations.
I was there for 3 days. This was not enough to see all the locations but I managed to visit around 50% of all the sites.
I stayed in Brockenhurst because I had good connections there with bus and rail.
On day 1, I went to Roydon woods in order to see Roydon Manor (but I had to come back the other day because the wooden bridge was populated by school classes and you couldn’t really take pictures). On that same evening I still went to Rhinefield House.
Day 2 was Roydon Woods (again), this time there was no one there, then Exbury Gardens, Exbury, Gatewood Bridge and Lepe.
Day 3 was Burley, Burley Street and Hurst.
I took a lot of pictures and I hope you like them. I put them into .pdfs and uploaded them onto a server, with the picture from the 78/79 episode on the left and the picture I took on the right.
Check them out here:
Five go off in a caravan :

Five get into a fix:

Five on a hike together :

Five go to smuggler’s top :

Five go to Demon’s rocks:

Five get into trouble :

Five pictures from diverse episodes:
http://picturesheet.com/famousfive/five_diverse.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
It was really a trip down memory lane as I was visiting these locations, especially Exbury House as I approached it, Castle Hill and Burley. But they were all great. Still to do would be Mudeford, Marchwood, Highcliffe, Dancing Ledge, Lymington and other spots like St Leonards, Sowley Pond, Shotts Lane, Warren Lane, but that’s maybe for next year.
Hope you like the pics!!!

Re: TV locations for the Famous Five series
What a brilliant set of pics - and great detective work Luke. It must have taken ages to track down the exact spots in some cases - those country lanes for instance. You must have a very good memory of the series to be able to pinpoint so many locations.

Great pics, Luke!
I always wanted to see those wild ponies in the New Forest (Burley).
Are they tame and let you touch them?
