This is the Home Page. Look at the boxes on the left and you'll see Enid Blyton Day.
Press this box, and then look for 2008, click on that link and there you will see everything to do with Enid Blyton Day 2008.
Hope that helps.

Julie, yes, it helped. I found it:

Beautiful bag!
Did you ever think of going into mass production with this bag?

Looking at all the photos and highlights of past Enid Blyton Days just makes me really sad that I discovered the society too late to experience one!

They were really something to look forward to Walter R and we used to talk about the coming day ages before and ages after.

It seemed to somehow bind the hole Society together.

But it is difficult for Tony to get speakers, and I believe he has been let down more than once too.

But walking into the room at Twyford and seeing all the book sellers all around was just heaven for me. And meeting up with like minded people was the icing on the cake. :D

There wasn't an Enid Blyton Day in Twyford in 2013, was there? I lived only a few miles south of Twyford (in Winnersh) at that time - if I'd only known...

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

No, Courtenay. The last one was in 2012.

Not having a Society Day is a bit like not having Christmas. It was the highlight of the year, and the only occasion when we could meet with Society members. As Julie said, the scene on entering Loddon Hall was magical. Even if some speakers were better than others, there was always something (usually a lot) to gain out of the day. I really miss those Saturdays in May, never even sure if we would get there, trying to remember the winding roads and lanes between Basingstoke and Twyford.

I think my most memorable moment was in 2007. I met Tony at the door and he said those immortal words, "Ming's inside." A great friendship was about to begin - and I don't normally 'pal-up' with 12 year-old girls!

Sadly, my gut feeling is that there will never be another Enid Blyton Day.

I do agree with Julian and Nigel. I feel very glad I managed to get to as many as I did, having met so many lovely people. I miss it very much too.

You mean... the White Witch is behind it all?

I was around in 2012 - in England, I mean - and at the time was dividing my time between western Kent and Woking in Surrey. So if I'd known, perhaps I could have made it. But I didn't learn about the EBS until towards the end of 2012, well after the EB Day would have been held, and even then, it was more than another year before I joined the Society (and the forums). Still, I feel like I only just missed out. :( Then when we did have a get-together in 2014 (at Bourne End, before Old Thatch was closed), it had to be on a day when I had a prior commitment that I couldn't cancel.

I wish so much that we could at least have another informal day - I'd love to meet at least some of our members in person at last - but it's looking less and less likely to happen.

Maybe we could get round Tony and persuade him to do one last Enid Blyton Day next year. These things do take ages and ages to plan and sort out and I realize it's hard work, but it's all worth it, and we all appreciate Tony's efforts too and we do get to see our leader hiding in the corner also :D

So if we all say 'pretty please, Tony!' Will that help! :P
