I'd like Yahoo to delete the offending accounts, but I don't want the whole site to close. As I've said earlier it is a valuable resource of articles/ photos. . I would be prepared to take " ownership" of the site -I'm sure that help would be out there if needed- provided the members were happy with this.

I've absolutely no objection to you taking over, Jack400! Go for it. You may breathe some much needed life into the site. :D

Thanks, number 6 - I intend to explore this further. Thanks again for your comment.

I suspect Jennifer herself would be delighted if the Yahoo group wasn't active anymore cos I know she finds the whole idea a tad...weird...

Oh Yes, I can see your point, Gary! That's a valid & fair comment. I know you are very close to Jennifer so you'd know her feelings & reaction to such attention better than most. For this reason I think it is only right not to resume my interest in the site. After all, I respect Jennifer's privacy & wouldn't like to think I was upsetting/annoying her in any way. It has certainly altered my opinion about joining other related groups in future. Thanks for posting, Gary. :D

Gary knows that fandom of Jennifer is not meant maliciously, it's just that Jennifer is long retired from acting and has withdrawn into private life.

Yes I agree too,as I think most reasonable people would.

I'm sorry if Jennifer Thanisch has found it a little unsettling, having a Yahoo Group devoted to her. People have very fond memories of the 1970s Famous Five series, but I'm sure fans wouldn't want to intrude on any of the actors' lives.

Yes, I'll not pursue this- I had thought that it would be best if someone that actually cares about Jennifer took control of a site that has been taken over by spammers. I, and I'm sure many others, had no idea our respectful interest was causing offence.

Never said "offence" she just finds it a bit weird that people talk about her and have pictures of her etc from when she was 14 years old. Some actors have no problems with such things, others do. That's life.

It depends on what people are saying, I guess. I belong to a group where we discuss the golden age of gymnastics (the 1970s and 1980s). Every now and then a poster will say something that sounds downright creepy about the then-teenage stars like Olga Korbut or Nadia Comaneci. Mostly people discuss the routines and how they were better than today's (in our opinion), but some of the comments must seem a bit odd to the now-50-something former gymnasts. I guess Jennifer would feel strange about it.

That's an interesting comment, Gary. I imagine any actor can attract a following, especially one who acted in such a successful series as The Famous Five. I believe Jenny didn't even tell her children when they were young about her childhood acting career. There must be plenty of child-actors who leave the profession behind when they grow up. I can well understand them thinking it odd for adults to produce a fan-site, such as the Yahoo Group pages. I must say, I had never thought of this before now. I would think it would be also disconcerting and maybe upsetting to hear that it is now taken over by purveyors of porn.

I for one would rather the Yahoo!Group would stay up, if nothing more than as a homage or a look-back to the actress and her past career. Users could continue to contribute the odd picture or two from "that yesterday", if nothing more. But I would certainly wish the admin, or moderator, would take a stand against these spam personals that keep invading the Yahoo!Group....!

Yeah, curiously I'm not *rushing* to tell her that bit of information :D
