Good old cosy Southern Television, it reflected Hants/Wilts and Sussex very well indeed. Who can forget the late great Jack Hargreaves?

Jennifer Thanisch Yahoo Group web

Post by number 6 »

Merged with an older topic.

Just wondering if any member of the EB Society are also members of the Jennifer Thanisch Yahoo Group? If so, are you being targeted by offensive/obscene e-mails from spammers who have hijacked the site? I'am not very good with computers & do not know how to go about reporting the problem. Any thoughts/advice? :?

Yes, I belong to that group. I would have thought the "owner" has probably lost interest, as nothing is done of it. I will be leaving the group, as it has really had its day. I will post on this on the group page.

Yes, I totally agree with you, Moonraker. It's a pity really, but if no one is posting, etc, then it seems a pointless exercise! I shall unsubscribe ASAP. Thanks for the quick response. :D

I haven't received any spam, but I just tried to unsubscribe using the "unsubscribe" link on the site and it didn't seem to work.

No, as soon as you click Save, it reverts back to how it was before you changed it.

Edit: On the HOme page, click on Membership, a drop down menu reveals Edit - I changed to No emails, saved it and it stayed as No emails!

I've sent an email to Kevin, the site 'owner'. If this doesn't work I'll contact Yahoo. Shame if this resource- with its many articles and photos- should close down. I'll let you know if matters improve. The spam creater is apparently "exploiting a recently discovered Yahoo site weakness". To be fair sorting it is a full time job- just ask Tony.

I can't find the membership on the home page to click on to, Which Nigel mentioned! I've tried to unsubscribe via Yahoo by e-mail, but it doesn't work. I'am still receiving vile/obscene e-mails from the site!

When you "sign in", your name comes up at the top right next to a little square box.

Below your name it says "Membership", with an arrow pointing down. Click on the arrow to edit your membership. Mine was already set to "No emails", which is why I haven't received any spam.

I have posted now (unfortunately, I didn't alter the 'thread' title - and you can't edit posts.

I suggested that the (genuine) members post any news here, on the Society forums. I believe Keith's software should filter out the pornography, if it doesn't, I apologise in advance.

I thought I'd let you know that, so far, there's been no reply from Kevin. I've set my preference to no emails too, as a temporary fix.

The site needs reporting to Yahoo & shutting down. I've tried to contact Yahoo about the offensive/abusive e-mails but, so far, without success. Ive not had to complain before, so I'm not sure what the procedure is or what I'm doing wrong! I Seem to going round in circles at the moment! :|
