Yes, it's ridiculous that ZDF, that published the German editions of the DVDs, strechtred the whole series to 14 DVDs leaving out any bonus material and additional audio channels, yet it also produced the Northern Europe editions with the English audio channel and 5 different languages for subtitles on 5 DVDs.

I have just ordered what I think is a TV capture card (thanks for that explanation Wolfgang),so when it arrives I'll have a go at putting Smuggler's Top on my computer. And then YouTube if I get that far :P :)

(I suspect that whoever uploaded the series to youtube was Dutch, and that's why they didn't have access to "Smuggler's Top)

I recorded it way back in the 1990's from German TV and later copied it onto a DVD/blank.

Good luck! I actually have a (copied) DVD of Smuggler's Top somewhere that came from a video. I don't have the rest of the episodes though, so it's great that they are on Youtube.

Talking of TV-capture devices, German Lidl is offering a set for digitalising film material from analogue sources for about 18€. They also offer "great software" to edit the recordings. If I knew what the "great software" is, I might be tempted to buy it, I'm always happy to replace good and functional software with a better one.

I've got the Dutch version of The Famous Five 90s series. It has the words 'De Vijf' on the front cover. I haven't watched it for a while so I can't remember if it contains the Smuggler's Top episodes on this one.

I've got that version too and no Smugglers Top isn't on it. All the others are but not that one and I think I paid almost as much if not slightly more for the video of Smugglers Top than I did for the whole set of the others on DVD's because it was difficult to find  . Why couldn't they have just included it I don't know, seems so silly to leave one episode out of a full series like that :x .

Smuggler's Top is on the German edition (De Fem), so it does seem really odd that it isn't on the Dutch one.

Thanks Ice Maiden :) That does sound so silly though and Smuggler's Top is one of my favourite FF books. I've seen the 70s series version but never seen the 90s version. I've just done a Amazon search for the individual video of Smuggler's Top and it's currently unavailable :(

If you just want to see it, you shouldn't have much trouble finding "Fünf Freunde auf Schmugglerjagd". If you don't understand German well, you might find it challenging to follow everything, Deej92.

IceMaiden wrote:For some reason Smuggler's Top isn't available online anywhere, which is a great shame as personally I though it was one of the best ones. I am guessing that it's because it's missing off the actual dvd sets which have been used to upload the other episodes. I have Smuggler's Top, but on video and I'm still trying to find a way of putting it on the computer otherwise I'd upload it to YouTube myself.
I used to have that DVD but lent it to a friend for her children before we moved to Shropshire. I don't suppose I'll ever get it back now.

Edit: Sorry, I've just realised it was Demon's Rock that I had.
