I don't like to point out the obvious but that image has been on our website for a few years!

Tony I've spent many a happy hour over the years browsing through the vast amount of information on your site and not just on the forums but I just really liked the vibrant picture from the LP and thought I'd like to share it with like minded people.
I'm sorry if you feel that my contribution somehow is superficial and I'm sorry that I did not recall that it already existed elsewhere on the site.
I've loved all things Blyton as long as I can remember and just wanted to share that with other people

It's all good. Nothing wrong with a slightly deeper and clearer product pic.
Plus, I'd like to ask:
Does it seem there are more FF TV memorabilia, promos, journals, etc featuring Marcus, Dick, Jennifer and Michelle from the 1st series/season (1978) than any featuring them from the 2nd series/season (1979) ??

I'm glad you enjoy looking through the Cave, Ed, but not everyone realises the goodies that are in there and it's nice to see the extra information about the LP. It's a lovely shot of all four children and Timmy as you say. I notice that Anne has been spelt "Ann" on the LP "blurb".

It really is an Aladdin's cave Anita, a real treasure!
It really is fantastic to have a resource like it with everything related to Enid in the one place
I hadn't noticed the spelling of Ann.
I was 8 to 9 when the original series was televised and I do not remember very much merchandise at the time over here in Ireland as I'm almost sure that I watched it on our national station, RTE.
I think that there were those Letraset transfers, although they might have been later and I do remember that I had a jigsaw of Five go off to camp. It was from the publicity photo of the five standing in front of the steam train, (the same photo that is shown earlier in this thread, used on a cassette I think).
I remember that we lost a few pieces so we were never able to put the full jigsaw together

Are you from Ireland, by any chance?

I'm about the same age as you, Ed, and I don't remember seeing much merchandise around when I was growing up (in North Wales) either. I was mainly fixated on the books though, being a keen reader and crazy about Enid Blyton. My sister and I collected the Famous Five books in paperback in about 1977-78, so we had some of the TV covers as well as some of the drawn/painted covers.

Interesting what you say about the 1970's merchandise, Anita - as we are around teh same age too, and I never saw any of the jigsaws, records or games growing up - not in the shops, anyway. The nearest I got were the two annuals I had - Smuggler's Top and Mystery Moor, a few of the TV cover paperbacks, and the 'Treasure Quest' game which I saw at someone's house but never played. I would have loved a few of the jigsaws when I was a child.

As the years go by, with any existing memorabilia becoming more and more rare, I'm just glad if I can somehow complete my H&S photo cover paperback collection. And maybe collect one more Annual.

I would love to own Famous Five 1978 memorabilia, because I love them so! But I can't find any

Gosh i'd never seen those Southern TV biography pages before. And maybe that's where the mistake that used to haunt me on Wikipedia (till I got it changed) about being born in 1964 came from!!Timmy254 wrote:Southern TV enclosed these information sheets with the autographed photos they sent to the fans (scroll down to view them all and click on the images to enlarge):

I *hated* that particular tee shirt - awful nylon, itchy and tight. But certainly pretty.Ed Fulcrum wrote:Hi there,
I recently came across an LP album of Five On A Treasure Island from the '70's TV series.
I thought the photo of the 'five' was nice so thought I'd share it.
(Also like it because I had a T-Shirt just like Dick's when I was about 10 so it also brings back happy memories from childhood!).

I was wearing the shirt when the cow phobia began, so I hate them both
