Short story about messy girl

Post by Rosie »

Hi I am hoping to find the name of a short story I read as a child to read to my own daughter about a very messy, disorganised girl who ends up missing out on a special outing because she hasn't got her things ready in time, doesn't tie her shoelaces, and trips over an unmended skirt (I think). Any ideas would be appreciated.
thanks

Welcome, Rosie. You might be thinking of 'Whatever Next!' which appeared in Enid Blyton's Gay Street Book (Latimer House, 1951) and Enid Blyton's Sunshine Book (Dean & Son, 1965). You can see the covers and lists of contents if you search in the Cave of Books. Eileen is lazy about pumping up her bicycle tyre, mending a hole in her pocket, tying her shoelaces, etc. As a result, she misses an outing. It was one of my favourite stories as a child.
"Heyho for a starry night and a heathery bed!" - Jack, The Secret Island.

"There is no bond like the bond of having read and liked the same books."
- E. Nesbit, The Wonderful Garden.

Welcome to the forums, Rosie. :D
