Thanks, daanton! Lovely pic! I like those annual illustrations very much - they ARE The Famous Five to me!

He does indeed look like Gerry Adams, though!!

Given, of course, these Annuals were published fairly close to the debut of SOUTHERN's TV version. Indeed, this J,D,A&G come very close to the J,D,A&G I discovered (as a kid) on said TV version....

Almost coincidence, really... a Mr Roland who looks like a future Sinn Féin leader. And a Mr Roland whom Betty Maxey renders with the same goatee and much less grey hair. And a Mr Roland whom you watch on TV (the SOUTHERN version) and whom you discover having no facial hair at all (thanks to the actor playing him, Peter Dennis).

But I digress. Again, I thank you much!

It needled the others that the tutor was taking away their Christmas tree, but only Anne really pined for it.
