When Tupping was mowing the lawn,
It took lots of muscle and brawn,
While mopping his brow,
He was kicked by a cow
And did not wake up till past dawn!

When Larry and Daisy were late...
Bets cried that it must have been fate,

When Larry and Daisy were late...
Bets cried that it must have been fate,
"They've been kidnapped!" she said,
"Or p'raps still in bed!"
So they waited, and swung on the gate!
'Oh voice of Spring of Youth
hearts mad delight,
Sing on, sing on, and when the sun is gone
I'll warm me with your echoes
through the night.'

(E. Blyton, Sunday Times, 1951)

When Fatty once answered the phone,
The voice he heard made him groan,
'Go down to the side-shows by the river this afternoon. I'll meet you somewhere in disguise. Bet you won't know me!' wrote Fatty.

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

Here's a new starter about Buster:

When Goon lashed out at poor Buster,
'Go down to the side-shows by the river this afternoon. I'll meet you somewhere in disguise. Bet you won't know me!' wrote Fatty.
