Re: '78 series Famous Five Quiz
Mr Rogers is not the tutor, he is a gardener (I think) and is included only in the 70's TV series, not the books. Why they had to bring in a brand new character, I don't know. He didn't even have any major role in the plots. He is just there, working in the garden when the Five come to Kirrin Cottage.

And most often than not, Rogers is often left to handle their luggage after J,D+A rush off to find George, etc!
Anyway, back to the game, here's my quote:
"I always knew you two were mad!"

And as for long outstanding questions to be answered....
And while I await confirmation on that answer, my own quote remains current:
Was it said by Professor Hayling's maid Jenny in "Five Are Together Again" as to why the guest bedrooms can't be used to house the holidaying Five while Kirrin Cottage is in quarantine (apparently the mattresses are away being re-covered)??George@Kirrin wrote:"they're away being re - covered"

I believe, being an Anglo-German production, German actors had to be included in the films. Hence a German Uncle Quentin and Rogers.Poppy wrote:Mr Rogers is not the tutor, he is a gardener (I think) and is included only in the 70's TV series, not the books. PS What is Yorkville Television?
Edit: Here's a clue...I too have always been fascinated by ITV idents, and mourn their passing.

You are quite correct, and your quote is from Anne to Ju and Dick in Trouble? when they go for their early morning dip whilst George sleeps??daanton wrote:And as for long outstanding questions to be answered....

Ah, another long-time Forums'er! You could say I've watched you, Anita and "Dick Kirrin" from afar for a long while.... Michelle and I have always wanted to ask: has your hayfever finally cleared up over the years??
Seriously, though, it's a pleasure to see you here again.
And.... in guessing my quote you are correct! Your turn.

He did, did he? Julian and Anne will glad to hear that.... unfortunately Dick won't be able to kid you about the hayfever anymore....!
Seriously, though....
That would have to be Mrs Philpo[t]t, saying this to Mr Henning and Mr Durleston, shortly after the 2nd conflict/argument between Henning and Grandad that ended thus....
GRANDAD: [to Mrs Philpot] "You are selling your birthright [Henning says the following along with him] for a mess of pottage, [to Mr Henning] and that is out of the Bible, Mr Henning, in case you don't know! And it means something. To decent folk."

Re: '78 series Famous Five Quiz
This one's become one of the fave quotes from the Portman/Southern series (should you guess this one, I can tell you why). Hope this one's not too easy or too hard to guess:
"Oooh, it serves you right, you horrible man! I knew I shouldn't trust you! [...]!!"

Re: '78 series Famous Five Quiz
That was Anne speaking to Curtain, (I think his name was) when he tried to grab her at the entrance to the secret passage in the quarry. He fell down and broken his ankle and Anne delivered those famous words. It is from Kirrin Island, I think it was in two episodes too.
Julian gave an exclamation and nudged George.

Re: '78 series Famous Five Quiz
Correct! It was in Episode Two. And his surname is C-U-R-T-I-N....
As for why it's become one of my favourite quotes: this is likely one of the few times (if not the only one) where Anne (like the others) can herself get angry and determined if she wants to, or has to. And Jennifer Thanisch portrays this side of Anne really well, I daresay!
Just imagine if Portman/Southern had indeed been given the rights to do "Five Have a Mystery to Solve", particularly those two instances/scenes where "Anne's mouse gets tiger'd up"!
But.... as for how Anne's been portrayed throughout the entire series as it stands, it's well done.
Anyway, your turn.
