Sad news about Philippa Pearce. Tom's Midnight Garden was a super book and won the Carnegie Medal. Three more of her books got shortlisted and even her most recent book, The Little Gentleman, got a Carnegie nomination.

I was sorry to hear of the death of Philippa Pearce. Tom's Midnight Garden is a remarkable book and will surely continue to give pleasure to generations to come. A couple of years ago my daughter and I went to see a stage version of Tom's Midnight Garden, which was wonderfully well done and incredibly moving.

I actually read it as a child but can't remember much about it .. I am sure we still have a copy somewhere though; will have to try and dig it out. Am always up for good children's literature!
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe.
Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion.
I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate.
All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.
Time to die.
