The Last Summer - Robert Houghton

After a few good comments on one of my novels - one of the four or five I have on computer anyway - I decided to upload it to Amazon Publishing, where it is now available to download as an ebook and will also shortly be available to order as a print copy. 8)

Its an adult novel - romantic/historical - set in world war two, the 1890's and the 1870's, telling the story of three generations of women who lived in the same house, Four Thrushes. I always describe it as in the style of Daphne DuMaurier - a bit of a cross between Rebecca and Jane Ayre.

I know a few people have read it already - and thank you for your feedback. We'll see how my luck goes, lol - though I don't hold out much hope, as its like finding a needle in a haystack on Amazon!

Here's a link should you wish to check it out. I'll put up another link when the print version is available.

Well done, Rob. I think you were kind enough to let me read that, although I have read so many of your books, I can't remember if I had or not!

I hope you don't end up book signing in the same place at the same time as Julie! Good luck.

So you took the plunge, Robert, well done you.

Will a publisher take on the print version?

It's a print-on-demand service - so if I happen to sell a book, it gets printed off, and I earn a cut of the profit!! Just trying it, as the whole thing is completely free to set up, so I thought 'why not' ! :D

Congratulations, Rob. :D

You were kind enough to let me read The Last Summer recently and I thoroughly enjoyed doing so. The book is extremely well written and wonderfully atmospheric. I hope it proves to be successful for you. Good luck. :D

Did you illustrate the cover? I can see the similarities between this cover and Rawlin's Reach.

Thanks all! :-)

Yes - I did illustrate the cover - quite a few years ago now, when I rewrote the book in 2006. The original book was written in around 1992! 8)

Should anyone want to buy a copy (which I highly doubt, lol!) then its available on Amazon as a print paperback - £6.99 - free postage if on Prime. Unfortunately I can't sell it any cheaper, as each book costs Amazon £3.49 to print, and the only commission I get on each book is about 68p!

Thank you Daisy! The price still says £8.99 but I reduced it to £6.99 this morning. Hopefully that price will be applicable shortly! 8)
