It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

Great news Julie - how very exciting! I must admit, like you, I would also find it a bit daunting - but its all a learning curve like anything, and I'm sure it will be an enjoyable one! I'll certainly look out for a copy!

Thank you all, and thanks Courtenay, but I don't think I'll be famous!

No, it clashes with Emmerdale.

Re: The Mysterious Boy - Julie Robinson
Congratulations, Julie! I hope you sell lots of copies. I'll keep an eye open for it in the various bookshops I visit on my travels.
I'll keep the forum posted on the progress of my own Blyton book, but at present my publishers are still deciding which authors to put in with Enid and which to leave for the second book on literary sites. My next 'counter-factual' history collection will probably be out sooner, title and date still not clear but hopefully by Christmas as an e-book. I do wonder how some 'fast-track' publishers of celebrity books can get a book out in 1-2 months (eg the recent tribute to Sir Bruce Forsyth) but mine always seem to take over a year!

Re: The Mysterious Boy - Julie Robinson
I'm always impressed (and a little envious!) of hearing of people being published, but I guess luck, as well as talent, plays a big part. You have to be in the right place at the right time. I've sent my books off to publishers so many times and been rejected. I sent one of my favourite books, 'The Last Summer' to around 20 publishers and was rejected 20 times - it becomes disheartening. I sent a children's novel, 'Dark Hall' to several too. Some replies were encouraging - but all rejections, lol!
However, I do occasionally toy with the idea of 'print on demand' etc or ebook versions, but haven't seriously looked into it yet. Maybe one day, lol!

Re: The Mysterious Boy - Julie Robinson
Thanks, Timv.
My hubby's books take about a year at the publishers, this one of mine was 8months. I guess it must be a bit different between fiction and non-fiction maybe.

Re: The Mysterious Boy - Julie Robinson
My short story in The People's Friend took 15 months between acceptance and publication - so 8 months is nothing, lol!
