Published 1977.
Huck's family were a trial to her, but now she had a time machine. Could she send her family back in time and return them again more livable-with?
One of my wife's favourite books as a child. She asked me to try and get it for her many years ago pre-internet.
There was only a very expensive Australian edition available back then.
Tried again today and voilà - bought a very good condition hard backed first edition from amazon uk for 1p plus £2.80 postage!
Anyone read the book/her other work? I've never read the book and I'm really looking forward to reading it.
Gillian Avery seems to be a well respected children's author.

I have that book on my shelves but it's so long since I read it I can't remember anything about it! Time for a re-read I guess.

I have had
A Likely Lad sitting up in my bedroom on the 'waiting to be read' pile for about three years! I also have her first book,
The Warden's Niece, and both these books made the Carnegie Shortlist.
A Likely Lad was also the Guardian winner in 1972. If only I had more time to read, perhaps when I retire!

Yes,Tony - so many books and so little time.
Nigel has recently informed us that when you retire you have even less time on your hands. What a swizz!!
