Ithaca is Wizards

Post by Ming »

Hi everyone!

Making my customary once in a blue moon visit to share some photos of Halloween with fellow readers.

http://cornellsun.com/2015/11/01/ithaca ... g-weekend/

Some local business decided to turn a local shopping district called Press Bay Alley into Diagon Alley for Halloween. They expected it to be a small event, somewhat on the scale of Apple Festival, but the event quickly went viral on Facebook and thousands of people showed to Ithaca's first ever Wizarding Weekend.

Almost everybody dressed up as wizards or witches, while some incredibly boring people remained Muggles. I tried to dress up as Bellatrix Lestrange with spare items from here and there. Unfortunately my corset from Amazon arrived really late and I wasn't about to buy an actual corset ( ); and my hair simply would not stay unruly and curly. There were quite a few Death Eaters! It was hard to stay in character because I could not stop smiling at all the festivities.

My personal favourites of the day were the sweet old couples dressed as Dumbledore and McGonagall, and Lucius and Narcissa. Except for Lucius, whose hair wasn't as silvery as required, I almost thought it was the actual characters come to life!

We enjoyed sipping on Butterbeer, and nibbling jelly slugs and chocolate frogs. Afterwards some friends and I took photos in A. D. White Library, which is colloquially often called "The Harry Potter Library". I personally don't think the White Library looks like Hogwarts, but who am I to complain.

How cool is that — thanks, Ming. You're right, I could swear some of them are the real characters themselves!!

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

That looks fun, Ming, and I love the A. D. White Library!
