Divergent Trilogy by Veronica Roth

Post by 7upromana01 »

Has anyone read the Divergent Trilogy by Veronica Roth? I'm currently reading the last one, which is very good. Or has anyone seen the movies?

If you like the Hunger Games, you should read and like these books.

The Divergent Trilogy follows a girl called Beatrice "Tris" Prior in a futuristic Dystopian version of Chicago. However, it's split into 5 factions, which each value one characteristic:

Dauntless, the brave.
Candor, the honest.
Abnegation, the selfless.
Amity, the kind.
Erudite, the intelligent.

However, Tris is Divergent. She isn't just one faction. She has to choose between going with her heart or going with her instinct. After all, the motto is: Faction before Blood.

PS: I'm Divergent with Amity, Abnegation and Erudite. You can take the test here: http://divergentthemovie.com/aptitudetest" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Abi.

Still trialling other writers, but will eventually go back to reading a bit of Blyton! Just too many books...

Occasionally will pop in! xx

I've read the first book (Divergent) and seen both films, Abi. I thought the book was well-written and gripping and I look forward to reading the rest of the series. I've also read Suzanne Collins' Hunger Games trilogy (and seen the films that have been made so far), and I agree that there are similarities. Both authors have created compelling but at times harrowing worlds.

I just took the test and got:

YOU ARE DIVERGENT.

YOUR CHOICES DEMONSTRATE THE VIRTUES OF MORE THAN ONE FACTION,
SCORING HIGHEST IN ERUDITE AND DAUNTLESS TRAITS.

I'm surprised as I doubt I'd choose to join Dauntless - I'd be scared to do some of the things they do!

Edit: My son has now done the test too. He hasn't read the books but has seen both films. His answers were almost exactly the same as mine (he hadn't seen me do my test), and he got the same results.

Me and my sister both got the same, even though we both took the test independently, too.

These sound like interesting books. I might give the first one a try sometime. I've read and enjoyed all the Hunger Games books recently, so it would be nice to find another series that is similar.

I have both read and enjoyed Divergent and Insurgent, but not yet Alegiant. I have also seen both films. I am currently reading The Scorch Trials which is the second book in the Maze Runner trilogy. I have also seen The Maze Runner film, and for those who like the Hunger Games books and films I would recommend you try these other two series of both books and films.

I'm posting days after the last post, but still, here goes: I liked the Triology and I recommend it for sure. Roth hasn't been able to create as harrowing a world as Suzanne Collins could. However they r better books in the spence that Allegiant wasn't a let down like Mockingjay.
