For fans of St Clare's/Malory Towers

Post by rosy_posy »

Has anyone read Robin Stevens' Murder Most Unladylike? Apart from the fact that it has a murder (and the odd canoodle) in it, it's incredibly Girls Own and would, I think, most definitely be enjoyed by fans of Enid Blyton's school stories. The period detail isn't overwhelming but is impressively accurate when it does come up, and it really feels like a school story of the time.

Someone here had already recommended this title. I forgot in which thread. I bought the kindle version.

I mentioned this in 'What Other Author Are You Reading At The Moment?' - Robin Stevens. I read and thoroughly enjoyed the book: it was another fascinating insight into girls boarding schools in the early 1900's - very different to Enid's own descriptions, in my opinion. I reviewed it on my Blog, rosy_ posy: Murder Most Unladylike Review.

No worries, rosy_posy: it's great to have a topic dedicated to Robin Steven's novel! Thanks for your feedback on my review, and thanks for the link for your own excellent book review. :D

Did you know the sequel: Arsenic For Tea is coming out early next year?

Thanks very much for the comment on my Blog, sixret! I haven't posted anything for a while because I've hardly been getting any feedback, but I'll get round to submitting a few reviews, sometime! :D

Yes, I'm really looking forward to the sequel. If it's as good as the first book it should be a wonderful read.
