Likewise series with camping and nature?

Post by woutwolf »

Hello, I am searching for series of children's novels a bit like Blyton. I like especially the parts about nature: the sea, the caves, the landscapes. Maybe there is a series with camping outdoors. The detective part is not necessary for me. I like mostly the beginning of Blyton's books, the atmosphere, not the plot. I am really hoping that there are some good series for children by other authors, preferable not too modern (but if there is nothing else, all right). Thanks for any help!

The Swallows and Amazons series by Arthur Ransome might be ideal about a group of siblings who go camping on an Island. A very nice series written about the same time as Enid Blyton.

Also, you should try a Malcolm Saville book - I think he wrote some adventure-type books.

Have you tried Enid Boyten??
You can read some here;
Kate Mary wrote:More complete Enid Boyten stories are now available on the Friardale website if anyone wishes to read them. "Their Helper in the Scarlet Cloak: An Enthralling Story of School Life and Mystery" and "The Secret of the Wrecker's Lantern" is thrilling stuff. The two stories of "Jean and her Wonder Dog" are great fun too.

Welcome Woutfolf. You might like the Six Cousins books. There are two in the series set on a farm. There are also three books in the Farm series.

You could try reading the "Bannerdale" series of books by Geoffrey Trease. They aren't really adventure books even though they are set in the Lake District. They are nicely written though.
