As a break from the Sexist and Racist Elements thread and to inject a bit of Christmas fun, try this smashing Silent Three story from the School Friend Annual:
http://comicbookplus.com/?dlid=30242" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I wish I could remember which annual it came from, but I have a huge pile of yet to be wrapped Christmas presents in front of my bookcase in the spare room, so I am unable at the moment to get to my annuals.
This is not a bad site, a lot of American stuff of course but I have found Girls' Crystal and School Friend issues from the 1950s.
Happy Christmas,
Kate

Thanks for the link, Kate. I thoroughly enjoyed that - I love the simple, far-fetched, dashing adventures and gorgeous illustrations of old comics. What a ridiculous name, though - 'The Silent Three'!!
I also thought I'd spotted Eileen Soper's George Kirrin in the very last illustration...
Happy Christmas to you too!

I used to get School Friend in the 1950s - I loved the Silent Three too.

Thanks for sharing it with us. I'm sure I've seen pictures of the Silent Three in comics that my mum had on her bookshelf when I was younger. I used to enjoy reading them occasionally. I hope she's still got them.

What a great read. Just the sort of thing my comics used contain. A good story.
Thanks for the link, Kate Mary.

The Four Marys were my favourite - from Bunty. Along with Roy of the Rovers (Tiger), Baby Crockett (Beezer), and most of the content of Whizzer & Chips.
