Alys Myers
Alys Myers
Does anyone know anything about this author? I am currently reading a book by her called 'The Enchanted Fairground', published by Birn, date unknown, but possibly from the 1950s. It's a pleasant little tale, and I would say it is written in a similar style to Enid Blyton. I've tried Googling the author, but apart from other books by her on E-Bay and author such sites, I can't find any information.

When I saw the thread title, I thought it was an anagram. I have never heard of her.

As soon as I read your comment a three-word solution to the "anagram" jumped out at me, Nigel - but it's not one I can post on the forums!

Re: Alys Myers
If you would eliminate the vowels you get:
lys Myrs
inlcuding the y (compare: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vowel" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; )
you get:
l Mrs
And this looks a little bit like the france word Malheur(s) (which is also to find in Germany) if you place new vowels:
http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malheur
http://de.wiktionary.org/wiki/Malheur
which would mean "bad hours".
;D
Or. you let be it without vowels as Mrs. L.
No, I don't think this would a possibility to get another author.

No wonder I can't see it, I've never seen Jim Royle. Well, I'm aware of who he is, but it's not something I've ever watched. Maybe it's best if I don't know.

I get it now
"It's the ash! It's falling!" yelled Julian, almost startling Dick out of his wits...
"Listen to its terrible groans and creaks!" yelled Julian, almost beside himself with impatience.

Spot on, Nigel!Moonraker wrote:A clue? Something Jim Royle might say if he was accused of being sly.....
Sorry to have derailed the thread, Katharine. I hope someone comes along who knows something about Alys Myers! Alys is a pretty name and The Enchanted Fairground is an alluring book title.

One of the best ever British comedies. You need to remedy that at once, Daisy!Daisy wrote: And I never watched the Royle Family either!

Re: Alys Myers
I've seenThe Royle Family but I don't particularly like it. I'm not easily offended, I watch a lot of 'worse' shows but I don't find much funny in a bunch of people sat in front of the TV making vulgar jokes.

Re: Alys Myers
I'm not a great fan of The Royle Family either. Some of it is quite amusing, but I really dislike the Jim Royle character (played by Ricky Tomlinson). I'm not a prude by any stretch of the imagination, but I find his vulgar humour totally unfunny and bordering on the offensive!
