It sounds like you quite enjoyed it, then. Just a pity she's not around any more, to know that you liked it. I'm sure that she would have been chuffed. How would you rate her in comparison to other writers of schoolgirl fiction? [I'll take it as read, that you won't put in the same league as EB.]

I enjoyed the book as much as I enjoy an Enid Blyton! I didn't think it was particularly 'girly', but maybe that's as I'm a bit of an old woman anyway! I would like to read more, but apart from an expensive copy on Amazon, can't find any at the moment.
One glaring error concerned the railway journey from Cornwall to London. As the journey went from Cornwall, through Devon and into Dorset, I expected the train to arrive at Waterloo. It arrived at Paddington, so was a GWR service, which doesn't go through Dorset. The SR (ex LSWR) traverses Dorset on its way to London.
