The Hunger Games Trilogy
Hi,
I've just started the 3rd book in the Hunger Games trilogy, Mockingjay.
It is one of the best books i've ever read!
Please don't talk about any events after the end of book 2. Don't spoil it all for me!
The film of Catching Fire is coming out next November, says wikipedia.
Anyone else here like Hunger Games?
Cheers, Roc.

Re: The Hunger Games Trilogy
I read them earlier this year. The story certainly makes you want to keep turning the pages, but if I had read them when I was 12 I think I would have had nightmares.

Yeah, it is a bit disgusting but I was fine. I know how cruel this world can be from watching Anne Frank documentaries and some news reports of the Afghanistan war. And i know that nothing in a book can hurt me.

OMG, i love it! Next year, on my birthday, I'm going to see the movie. I have to go because I will be officially 12 on that day.

Still trialling other writers, but will eventually go back to reading a bit of Blyton! Just too many books...

Me too. Can't wait! Have you seen the first film? I'm gonna hint to my parents and cross my fingers for Christmas!
It's so wierd though how I can love such a happy-ever-after real world book like the famous five and a far-fetched, make believe, gory trilogy like The Hunger Games.

Re: The Hunger Games Trilogy
Isn't it strange. Having read the books, the last thing I would want is to see the story portrayed as a film. Visual impact is far greater than reading words and I don't know what sort of effect it would have - on anyone. Your remark about enjoying both types of books is interesting Roc.

Re: The Hunger Games Trilogy
I heard that the film is awful. Films are never as good as books, as with Harry Potter, but i thought the film would have been good. Quite a few people say it is nothing like the book and only follows the same basic storyline but others say they very much enjoyed it. It's interesting to see what the characters and settings are supposed to look like.

I look forward to seeing it and to finish Mockingjay. I've heard there is quite a surprising ending. I'm well and truly hooked!

I couldn't put the Hunger Games books down, and I thought the film was excellent too and much closer to the books than many film adaptations are.

Re: The Hunger Games Trilogy
Finished the final book in the trilogy last night. It is very sad and slightly disturbing. Katniss goes completely off the rails. What did everyone else think of the ending?
