I nearly put the first book in the New Moon series down after the first chapter. However after struggling through a few more pages I was hooked and ended up reading the whole series - twice. Not that I'd recommend them for a 12 year old.

Are you referring to the Emily books Katharine? Wonderful books, but I first read them as an adult, so not sure how I would have taken to them when younger.

No, I mean the Stephanie Meyer vampire ones that are all the rage at the moment, I think the last film is due to be released fairly soon. I'm sure they've got a collective name, but I could only think of the title of one of them at the time. I haven't heard of the Emily books, who are they by?

A trilogy By L.M.Montgomery, the first being "Emily of New Moon". If you enjoy Anne of Green Gables, I think you would like these too.

The books take us from Anne's arrival in Avonlea, to pupil teaching, going to college, teaching as a qualified teacher, her marriage, her family of six children to the last book where her youngest daughter Rilla takes centre stage during the First World War.
L.M Montgomery also wrote quite a lot more books, some stand alones, some short stories as well as the three Emily books.
I would recommend them to anyone of any age!

Oh, it can be. I read just one paragraph of a C J Sansom book to make me want to read the whole series!

What is this series called? I'll see if it's on kindle then read the first paragraph and see if it's worth buying!

I assure you they are! Anne doesn't feature quite so much, as the story focuses more on her children, but they follow on smoothly from one book to the next.
