Thanks so much for the link, Kate Mary. I haven't seen this publisher before.

Just to show that there is more to Malcolm Saville than Lone Pine I have plucked from my shelves four more books from four different series.

Interestingly Anita referred to the 'Browns' but they actually changed name when the title was changed as they started off as the 'Grays'! Normally the series gets referred to as 'Lucy and Humph'. I won't bore you with any more books now, I'll get back to the day job!!

You're not boring us, Tony. We're all green with envy. I've found one of the titles on EBAY and have ordered it. I find older books just so fasinating, and love the dust jackets. They always convey times gone by with such interest. :D

Beautiful jacket designs! I like the dreamy cover for All Summer Through, with the weeping willow, and the cheerful Four and Twenty Blackbirds cover is rather more enticing than the pink-hued cover of my retitled Armada paperback. Strangers at Snowfell is a gripping read and I liked a number of other titles from that series (the "Jillies" series) as well.

How strange that the family's surname was changed! I wonder why? That series is referred to as "the Brown Family series" in the title listings in my Armada paperbacks.

Which book have you ordered, Julie?

I've ordered The Secret of Buzzard Scar, Anita. There were also some Lone Pine series, which I'm watching to see how much they go for. I've also looked on the link which Kate Mary kindly put in, and those look nice too, being new and hard back. :)

I love the cover of Strangers at Snowfell. Can anyone seriously imagine a modern train running through all that snow? An inch or two and the whole network grinds to a halt these days.

Julie, the books published by Girls Gone By are paperback not hardback, nevertheless they are good value for money compared with second-hand Malcolm Saville hardbacks. They are complete and unabridged with all the original illustrations (and illustrations from later editions too in some cases) first edition cover art, a complete publishing history and an introduction by an authority on the subject such as Mary Cadogan.

I have all the Malcolm Saville titles published so far, as well as some others. I should drop some heavy hints to your family that you would like some for Easter/Mother's Day/ birthday if I were you.

Happy reading,

Kate.

Thanks for that, Kate. They looked like hard back copies. I should have paid more attention!

I'll revisit the site and have a look around. :D

Before I leave the Malcolm Saville books I thought I ought to show the first six books in the Susan and Bill Series as they are illustrated by Ernest Shepherd, better known as the 'Winnie the Pooh' illustrator.

They all also have a very nice coloured frontis illustration.

A smashing set of vintage dust-jackets, thank you for letting us see them, Tony.
