Here's a little mystery for you.I found this Greek Agatha Christie book in a boxful of books in my cellar the other day. Can't remember how it got there.

Can anyone detect the title in English of this book based on the cover? It's got me stumped.

I think we can safely eliminate The Murder Of Roger Ackroyd though..

Well... I can read the Greek alphabet well enough to know the title transliterates into our letters as Ena Schedio Dolophonias. According to Google Translate (which is obviously quite clever with these things), that literally translates as "One Plan Murder". (Or maybe "One Murder Plan", if they put the adjective after the noun... I'm not quite sure.)

As to which Christie title that corresponds to in English, I'll have to leave that up to the experts!

If we had someone here who could read and understand Greek, they could read the blurb on the back for us...

A 1968 Fontana edition of Towards Zero has the same cover:

Why didn't you ask Mr Eppy, Pete? He would have deciphered it. :D

We went to Dartmouth today, and did a river cruise. It was nice seeing Agatha's Greenway, through the trees from the boat, and the boat house too. :)

I was in Dartmouth last week and went for a cruise on the River Dart on the paddle steamer Kingswear Castle. I also visited Greenway House using the steam railway to get there. Lovely to see the bookcase full of first editions. Beautiful house and garden - well worth a visit.

It's a lovely trip up the river. Last time I was there Greenway had only just opened, and we never visited it. We always loved the sea trip from Brixham to Dartmouth too. :-)

The steamer Kingswear Castle was on the river today too, Kate Mary. We would have gone on that one, but it didn't go as far as Agatha's house, and I wanted to see it from the river, as we've been a few times to the house and looked out over the river. :)

Our trip on the Kingswear Castle was all the way to Totnes, about three hours there and back. The upper reaches of the Dart are very beautiful and peaceful and we saw lots of birds and a seal, but she can only do that at high tide, she mostly does shorter trips as you said, Julie. It's a lovely way to travel.

That's right, Kate Mary, as it's difficult for the boat to turn and she has to turn around in the wider parts. Next time we go, we're definitely going on the steamer. :)

Reading 'Murder is Easy' and thoroughly enjoying it despite the rather stupid 'hero'. The plot and atmosphere are both very good.
