Thank you so much for both links, Pete. :D

I love C.S. Lewis's( or Lewis' ?) house. Very beautiful and peaceful. That's the kind of house that I want to live in. Spacious land and more plants(green) than bricks with beautiful scenery. A quint little house is definitely for me. :D

I just noticed that they just published "And then there were None" under a different title in Germany than was used before ("Ten Little Niggers" used to be the old German title, now they want to be PC :)).
It's still my favorite Agatha Christie movie even though it's from 1945, but nevertheless very good:

After its original title of Ten Little Niggers (the island was called Nigger Island as it was in the shape of a negroid head), the title was changed to Ten Little Indians. The final line became the preferred title, And Then There Were None.

I wonder if ebay would allow the original title of that book to be listed as they ban the listing of Sudan stamps using the name Sudan (even the old stamps from the British Administration of 1898 - 1954) - vendors have to say Soodan or Su dan!

I must be behind the times because I've never heard or seen it called anything but Sudan! :?

I was rather puzzled by Francis' post also. Having looked it up, it's because the US operates a trade embargo on Sudan (as it does with Cuba and North Korea). E-Bay have adopted a sledge-hammer approach and banned any listings using the name. Sudan is, of course, still called Sudan. Some people are trying to get round this by deliberately mis-spelling it.

It does make a mockery of ebay and US Government policy that it boycotts (or try's to boycott) trades of stamps that have nothing to do with the current Sudan government. A collection of stamps in the UK for sale to other collectors cannot use the correct name!

 I feel a bit thick now (not a new feeling, alas!)

If sellers list items from those countries using mis-spellings like (for instance) "Soodan", "Cuber" and "North Career", their listings are unlikely to be found unless potential buyers have worked out what they're doing. And once buyers have worked out the codes, I imagine eBay won't be far behind!

Why the stamp sellers need to put the name of the Soodan or Su dan? If the stamp buyers want to buy/bid the stamp from Sudan and they search using "ebay search" by typing Sudan, surely the search engine will not show the stamp with the name of Soodan or Su dan!

The better way is for stamp collectors(sellers and buyers) to change the name of Sudan into nadus(for example), when selling on Ebay and let it be known to stamp lovers in their websites or blogs. Choose one totally different word for Sudan and stick with it.

My Granddad bought me five Agatha Christie Crime Collections, this week, which I was very pleased with - 5 for £1, apparently! A wonderful variety of stories, and I look forward to reading them. :D
