The McIains of Glen Gillean

I remember reading this book in the late 50s or early 60s when I was a schoolgirl. It was about a Scottish family whose surname was McIain. Some of their names were Alasdair, Muireall, Elidh and Niall. I can't remember the story, only that the family were quite clannish and hostile towards someone who came to see them. I don't remember the name of the author, but I'd love to hear from someone who knows the book as I remember enjoying the story very much.

I know this thread is so old it's practically fossilized, but I was having a browse, found it and it rang a bell. This Mabel Esther Allan title has been reprinted by Girls Gone By:
