Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit
Lord of the Rings is my very favourite book of all time - it's absolutely wonderful. I love the story, the settings, the characters, the landscape. The prose. The imagination and the languages and ... just everything about it. I love the films too .. I have seen them criticised but I think that they were brilliantly done. Any fellow fans here?

Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion.
I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate.
All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.

Yes its just about my all time favourite too. The sheer scope and breadth of the world Tolkien created never fails to enthrall me.
I generally reread the whole thing, including The Hobbit, about every three or four years.

Oh yeah I thought they were wonderful. They weren't entirely perfect of course - there were bits left out that I would have liked to see added and bits added that frankly I could have done without - but I still thought he made a great job of them. Are you a fan of them?

I thought Viggo was a great Aragorn and beside him, Sean Bean didn't really look the part .. I dunno why. I know a lot of people thought he made a good job of it though. Generally the casting was wonderful, though it took me a long time to get used to Elijah Wood as Frodo.

Heh I took that once before, ages ago, and got about as far as I did this time. Loads of fun though but the fifth and sixth levels are impossible!

Re: Lord of the Rings?
I tried reading the books about five years ago, but was never able to finish them as I found the descriptions too lengthy. I really enjoyed the films though.
I love the book too, as well as the films. Was rather disappointed by Jackson's portrayal of my favourite character, Faramir, though. All that was attractive about him was removed until he became like a weak version of his flawed brother.

Yes you probably have . I get around a lot. What do you post as there?
I didn't like the portrayal of Faramir at all - it showed a basic lack of understanding of his character and a betrayal of him, I think..
