I have a small collection of Collins Seagull Library books too including A Mystery for Ninepence, The Harveys See It Through and The Key of Rose Cottage. They are all excellent stories. Another couple of titles worth a look are Windmill Hill by Wyn Brocklebank and The House by the Sea by Hilda Boden, both good family stories.

I quite enjoyed that as a one-off read; most particularly his early life. When a school-boy makes fire-lighters for sale out of lumps of old tar dug out of the road, you know he is going to quite the entrepreneur.

Reading Ice Cold by Tess Gerritsen at the moment after finishing Mr. Galliano's circus series. I am planning to read Rizzoli and Isles series in sequence before the new title comes out in December this year. I highly recommend this series. This is a very enjoyable murder mysteries. :D

I got about four magazines the other day, and that's what I'm reading nowadays. When I finish that, I will re-read "Great Expectations" by Charles Dickens

I like Great Expectations but it isn't one of my favourite Dickens. What aspects of it do you like best Farwa?

Girl, Missing by Sophie Mckenzie. Not what I'd usually read, but a very interesting book. I'm alternating between that and The Mystery of the Vanished Prince! :D

I've read Girl, Missing and I also found it interesting. It's fast-paced and keeps you turning the pages.

Not one of my favourites, either. I'll be glad to read your comments, Farawa, maybe I've been missing something.

You'll be getting a PM about that soon, Nigel!

Yes, Girl, Missing is indeed very fast-paced and flowing! I'm really interested in what the outcome will be.

Simon Sebag Montefiore's Jerusalem: The Biography. Not a light read - lots of gory bits, and a bit hard to keep track of who's who in the never-ending succession of rulers and challengers and usurpers - but a fascinating and well-balanced study of one of the most important and turbulent cities in world history.

Eddie, is that the movie with Michael Caine?
I've only just seen your post and so I apologise for the delay in replying to your question, Chrissie. Michael Caine did indeed appear as Alfie in the 1966 movie.

I've not read that, but do quite like Montefiore. I find pre-Babylonian exile Jerusalem and the Crusader Kingdom eras the most fascinating.
