I looked out for Nigel but couldn't find him so I had to eat everything and drink all the ginger beer myself! Izzy and I enjoyed a lovely sunny afternoon walking round the Famous Five mystery route. It was spread out over the large Wisley gardens and woods so we returned home exhausted. Luckily we rescued Uncle Quentin - but I do believe he has been kidnapped yet again. The man is totally helpless and I sympathise with George and Aunt Fanny. The grass sculptures of the Famous Five were excellent and I enjoyed sitting on the Wishing Chair so much that Izzy had a go. In the shop at the entrance the Famous Five books were selling well and I persuaded a lady with her young daughter to buy some of the Famous Five audio productions. She said her daughter had about six of the books which she had been reading herself and had thoroughly enjoyed them (to her surprise). She picked out those books with the original illustrations as she didn't like those on the recent editions.
We finally left happy and tired at four o'clock and the blue skies disappeared under cloud.

The weather should be dry - hopefully! I will probably go as well - there's supposed to be a picnic!
We did go. I should have got a mobile number so that we could have met up, Francis. There was a story-telling 'tent', face-painting and a couple of adventure trails, but that was about it. Successful children were given a book at the end, Five on a Garden Adventure. I should have taken one when the attendant wasn't looking.

I will write a summary and put some pictures when I get home...
Sorry I missed you Nigel - it would have been great to see you again. I was tempted to claim one of the books for my granddaughter but didn't have the face to do it. I wonder if you managed to rescue Uncle Quentin as well? I had a good chat about with people about the Famous Five books. The best place to do this was at the grass sculptures which were very popular.

It sounds like a great day out, Francis - and a perfect way to celebrate Enid's 120th birthday! :D I would have loved to sit in the Wishing Chair too. Hope you visited the Land of Goodness Knows Where? I don't think Peter and Mollie ever did go there! ;-)

hearts mad delight,
Sing on, sing on, and when the sun is gone
I'll warm me with your echoes
through the night.'

Thanks, Nigel and Francis. I like the sound of the adventure trails and the grass sculptures.

I must admit after walking for what seemed hours we didn't know where we were so it might as well have been the 'Land of Goodness Knows Where'.

Thank you. It was a pity that we didn't link up with Francis and Izzy - can't believe we didn't bump into them.

Nice photos, and I don't think I've seen as many Blyton books in one place.

Well done, Nigel — thanks for sharing those. I like how they came up with the idea that Uncle Quentin's current scientific project is to save the bees! :D

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)
