Blyon postcards sold at auction

Post by number 6 »

A nice little collection of signed postcards by Enid Blyton were auctioned off for £180! :D

Thanks for the link, Number 6. :D Very interesting, but £180 seems a lot to pay for three rather tatty looking postcards. I wonder why the postage stamps have been damaged on two of them.

These postcards date from the time of the TW letters we read every week. £180 is an awful lot of money for three postcards even though they must be incredibly rare.

I just zoomed in on the postcards and read them. Nellie must have been delighted to receive such warm, friendly replies. It seems that she sent Enid Blyton a home-made calendar and a "jolly" photograph.

Enid Blyton letters and postcards from the 1930s are very rare and normally sell for more than 180 pounds each so this buyer got a real bargain.

There are many available from the 1950s.

I think it is wonderful these have survived and they show the caring side of Enid to have written such personal messages to a little girl.

As Kate Mary says, these are from the time of the TW columns.

I think someone who collected stamps was trying to remove them for their collection but failed miserably. I did the same as a young boy but I never received any cards from Enid!

Those are lovely, I tried to read them but they won't zoom in on the ipad and go all blurry. I watch a lot of the antiques programmes and keep hoping to see a Blyton item on one but there never is even though postcards and letters from other famous people feature quite often.
