well, I haven't seen a new copy for years! I've seen a few second-hand ones - but its not like you can just order it on Amazon!

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

I saw a copy for £1.50 in a charity shop over the weekend, but I decided to leave it on the shelf, as it was in such poor condition.
'Go down to the side-shows by the river this afternoon. I'll meet you somewhere in disguise. Bet you won't know me!' wrote Fatty.

Slightly better than 'Anecdotage', though. Although had you called that, this thread might have slightly more than two pages. 63 pages, in fact.Tony Summerfield wrote:I know exactly what you mean, Anita, the word 'Dossier' doesn't exactly draw you to the book, it seems horribly academic

Re: The Enid Blyton Dossier
I'm thinking of buying a 'new' copy because my old one is so well thumbed and very poor condition indeed, I've looked at it so often! I could sell my copy - but its split all down the spine and the back cover is completely off, while the front cover is loose! I don't think I'd even get £1.50 for it!Eddie Muir wrote:I saw a copy for £1.50 in a charity shop over the weekend, but I decided to leave it on the shelf, as it was in such poor condition.

That's a testimony to how fantastic The Dossier is - only bad things get talked about.Moonraker wrote:Slightly better than 'Anecdotage', though. Re: The Enid Blyton Dossier
It is an impressive book, with a lot of information to read and digest as well as plenty of illustrations and photos to drool over.
I believe there's now a sequel - The Trump Dossier. I doubt many will be drooling over that!

I am not all that sure why you are quoting something that I wrote over eight years ago, Nigel!

The Dossier - As good for you today as it's always been.

Re: The Enid Blyton Dossier
Not long after you posted that comment I found a second thread also called The Enid Blyton Dossier, and I merged the two. So we've got seven pages now!Moonraker wrote:Slightly better than 'Anecdotage', though. Although had you called that, this thread might have slightly more than two pages. 63 pages, in fact.

That is true, Rob - although rather sad for those who write well. I realise that there is a limit to how many times you can say, "A wonderful edition" and so on, but it does seem unfair that a load of rubbish attracts pages and pages of comments, yet a work of art relatively few.Rob Houghton wrote: That's a testimony to how fantastic The Dossier is - only bad things get talked about.

Was round at the folks' tonight and the dossier was handed over to me to keep!kirstymaclaren wrote:My parents bought the dossier at the time, and I had forgotten about it until recently, when my obsession with Enid Blyton (and this website) has been revived.
I looked it up on this website and was delighted to find it was by Tony Summerfield! It all comes together. I will have to ask my parents for a loan of it

Re: The Enid Blyton Dossier
I have had the Dossier for a few years and agree that it is a beautifully produced book. I was amused to come across this in a review of the book written back in 2000.
“At only 96 pages it is incredible what the authors have managed to pack in – though this is less a mystery when you see the size of the thing. It is certainly not a book you could snuggle up in bed with, unless you have a four-poster to strap it to.”
