Thank you in turn for that picture, Christophe.

There seems to be a book with this title available on Amazon.de. Would that be the same one? Doesn't seem to be too expensive. There's no picture to help me confirm, but it appears to have been published in 1989. There is also no mention of a translator (other books in the series seem to have been translated by Ilse Winkler-Hoffmann and have pictures of the covers). So it probably is your "ghost" book. Indeed, the two second-hand sellers give the original date of publication as 1977, which would coincide with Brigitte Blobel's FF books. Interesting that it's actually available on Amazon.de for fairly reasonable prices! Anyway, many thanks again for the pic.

This is what is says at the beginning.

The fourth 'Ghost book' is being called The Famous Four save the Horse-Race.
The Secret series was first translated as The Arnoldkinder ... (The Arnold Children ...) and later as The Famous Four
Oh, so that's another Brigitte Blobel "translation"! Very interesting indeed! Vielen Dank für diese Infos! :D

Yes, this is it. The ISBN is the same.
BTW, at http://www.booklooker.de" rel="external, you can find the books with covers (as the sellers can upload them themselves)

Indeed they are very rarely and very thrilling. But don't ask for details .It's really a long time ago.

P.S: Five and the Blue Diamond is available for 100 Euro. This is highway robbery.

By the way, Christophe, do you know what the German title of that "Famous Four" book is? I'm just wondering if that's on Amazon.de too, but my best guesses seem to be drawing blanks. :(

Many thanks. It was the word "verwegen" that tripped me up. I've just found it on Amazon.de. Published in 1978.

Welcome, Christophe.

You may be interested to know that The Counterfeiters Mystery, a Barney Mystery, has been translated into English from German by Wolfgang Walter of the Blyton Yahoo Group. I beta-read it and "Blytonized" the language, re-titling it The Rumlington Mystery to fit in better with the other English titles in that series. The translation can be found in the "files" section of the Blyton Yahoo Group:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/blyton/" rel="external

I really need to re-read it myself and tidy things up as I'm sure there are a few inconsistencies, eg. a hat becomes a cap at one point, or something like that.

I found it quite an enjoyable story.

Christophe wrote: There is one series that was written under Enid Blyton's name, the Tina and Tini series. It's about two girl detectives. I don't know how many of them there are, but I could track down 14 different titles.
Book 1 (Tina and Tina Search for a Mysterious Treasure)
The first two books exist also in English - "The treasure hunters" and "The boy next door". But they have been altered - in English the books are about different children and the children (at least in book 1) are brother and sisters. In Germany there are Tina, her brother Tobbi und Tina's friend Tini. Nevertheless I like the "Tina-und-Tini"-books a lot.

I meant to ask you, Christophe: could I possibly use some of your pictures on the Web site I'm developing? I'd particularly like to use the Counterfeiters' Mystery cover and possibly that snippet of the publishing information. I would of course acknowledge you as the source ...

I went through Heathers site and found the German Malory towers, The owner of the site has translated some of the books. They were rather funny a good laugh and an enjoyable read. I was reading it a loud and many times my mum and I both said it would never enter Darrel and Sally's head to phrase a sentence that way! Much to rude, but it was funny all the same as sometimes in Enids books I would Darrel or Sally to just say something a little unlady like.
The owner of the site writes at the end, that the author used a swear word, but she did not translate it. Good for her! It was not necessary to include it to begin with. That author should have know better.
There is always something else new to learn.

Thanks Christophe. I never heard about the books before.

I will love to read them, if if they are translated into English.

You can find the seventh book and the first seven chapters of the eight book on this website http://www.freewebs.com/malorytower/.

I got it from Heather's Blyton Pages http://www.heathersblytonpages.com.

P.S.: Does anyone have information about how to make any word link to a page on the Internet?
