I hadn't read that story before, Pete. Thanks for posting. I shall look out for the Magazine Annuals, they seem to crop up on ebay regularly.

they're well worth having, John. they are fairly common, even in dust wrappers. there were only four, so they are nice books to collect a set of - and they all contain previously unpublished stories featuring Famous Five, Secret Seven, Amelia Jane, The Three Golliwogs, Mr Twiddle etc etc. 8)

     Is that story in the 1990s book "The Secret Seven Short Story Collection"? (I don't have my copy handy to check now.)
     Do that and "Five Have a Puzzling Time and Other Stories" from about the same time contain all existing shorter Famous Five and Secret Seven stories?

Yes - those two books contain all the Secret Seven and Famous Five short stories. :-D
