There are some disparities in the details given about Christmas at Kirrin Cottage between the 1943 - 1962 accounts...

The Christmas Tree varies too, depending on the illustrator!

I've just dug this book out & will give it a whirl tonight, Pete. I've been meaning to re-read it for a while, but kept putting it off. Now, after seeing your post, you've inspired me to do so! :D

An interesting read, Pete. The inconsistencies struck me too when I first came across that short story. The picture Enid Blyton paints of George's family background in Five Go Adventuring Again is fascinating - quirky and isolated - so I'm inclined to accept that version rather than the one given in 'Happy Christmas, Five!'
"Heyho for a starry night and a heathery bed!" - Jack, The Secret Island.

"There is no bond like the bond of having read and liked the same books."
