A Letter from Miranda [Barney Mystery Series]

The Goblin's Toyshop - Enid Blyton's Sunny Stories (Issue 482, May 1950)




From what I can ascertain,this is the only place in the whole of Enid's published work this letter appears.
Has anyone read this letter from Miranda? What does she write about? Is it a short or long letter?

In 1950 there would only have been one or two Barney Mysteries published.Miranda's letter is in this May 12, 1950 magazine,so maybe she was introducing herself and promoting interest in this,one of Enid's new series,that had yet to be established??

I wouldn't know, but I do know I once had that copy when it was new! I wish I hadn't passed them all on to my younger sisters.

In Sunny Stories no. 504 there is a letter from Loony which was reprinted in Journal 35. Enid wrote many short letters from animal and other characters as 'fillers' in Sunny Stories. I don't know if this one has appeared in the Journal, (it hasn't from issue 33 onwards which is as far back as I go) but if it has not been reprinted yet it may well appear sometime.

A Letter from Miranda.

I am sorry to use brutal censorship here, but I want to use it in the Journal and there wouldn't be much point in doing so if it can be read here and also in the Journal it will have its illustrations.

This is the first time I have seen any reference to a letter from Miranda! How lovely - and what scope given her experiences. Did Enid write any more? Miranda was always one of my favourite Blyton pets.

It would have been lovely to have a regular letter from her wouldn't it - as you say, given her experiences, she would have had fascinating things to tell us every week, I'm sure!

I hope I will read the Miranda letter one day also.
