Enid Blyton's Magazines

I have just received the following email:-

"I have found a whole collection of Enid Blyton's Magazines, while clearing my parents' house. They were originally bought for my sister and myself in the 1950's and never thrown out. There are 85 of them altogether. The first 3 years are complete - (Vols 1, 2 & 3 - dating from March 18th 1953 to Dec 20th 1955) Then there are 12 issues from Vol 4 up to Sept 11th 1956, but not continuous, as No's 3,10,12 and 15 are missing.

My sister and I are mainly concerned with getting them to those who would appreciate them, as they have narrowly escaped the recycle box more than once. It would also seem a pity to split up the first 3 volumes."

If anyone is interested I can put them in touch with the person who sent it to me.

How much would you be looking for? I used to be an avid collector of the Enid Blyton magazine and somehow they all disappeared - never knew where. I would love them if they weren't too expensive.

Any idea how much would that cost? I would like to buy some for my son's collection.

I wonder what the job satisfaction is in trawling forums just to plug your sofa business?

I have actually removed the signature now, so I'm afraid that makes a nonsense of your post. If anyone is interested in these magazines I'm afraid I can't help as the original email was sent three years ago and not surprisingly I haven't got a clue who sent it!

I'm sure no-one would notice - nonsense is my speciality!

Does anyone know where we could buy older items like this. I would love to get my hands on some of the magazines? I keep an eye on eBay but they never seem to come up.

I did spot some on ebay just now if this helps you at all...

One quick question that just occurred to me if I may:

Did the content of the Books; ENID BLYTON'S MAGAZINE ANNUAL No. 3 etc contain stories from the Enid Blyton magazines etc or were these books contents totally separate???

Quote (Tony): Only the first annual contained reprints.

Fiona recently recently asked a very good question about the best way to store the Enid Blyton Magazines.
How do you store yours?

This is how I keep my complete set:

Looks like a good and sensible way to keep them.

I agree. I have some old football programmes that I keep in pocket display folders like that.

I store mine in plastic boxes with lids, which stack together. Not very space-saving - but it suits me. One box for each volume of magazines, labelled by year/volume. - sorry about the terrible photos!

I'm thinking about buying the type of sleeves people put on comic books (the acid-free sort of thing) and then putting them in a box. Might sound like over-kill but I've already torn a cover just by sifting through a small pile to reach one, and a few have covers that are no longer attached. Just wish I could find some the right size, as they are all standard/comic dimensions it seems.
