Hi Raci,
To be honest, I'm a bit suspicious of that poem ("I Lie in a Meadow"). Although the content sounds quite Blytonian, I don't think the style does.
I may be wrong, though. Wonder who did write the non-Blytonian poems?

I did and still do!HeatherS wrote: Actually, Keith recently put all of it on the web (so I can read it and chuckle away at my desk while I'm at work!). If anybody's interested the web address is http://www.enidblyton.net/enid-blyton-f ... tml#portry
When I read the books as a child, I laughed out loud at Fatty and Ern's "Portry". I may be the only one (and a very sad individual), but I still have the same response now!
Did anyone else enjoy it as much as I did?

Re: Bedtime Poems
The people who make those annual's make me feel sick. Enid deserve's better than this.Tony Summerfield wrote:I am agreeing with you both, Rob and Anita. Although my Bib Part 4 finished in 1974 I did try to trace the stories and poems in the Bedtime Annuals right the way through to the last one in 1983. I found almost all the stories - though some had changed titles, but I didn't manage to trace any of the later poems at all and I don't believe that any of them were written by Enid - just some editor filling in! You have probably noticed that the majority of Enid's poems were written in the early part of her career and in the 50s and 60s her poems were few and far between.
Best wishes

Magical Realm-Enid blyton
Witches and fairies, gnomes and elves
Alive dolls on the cupboard shelves
Strange lands up a magical tree
Pixies and goblins where roam free
Land of birthdays, balloons and claps
Country of a fierce dame ready to slap
Giants that thunder and roar at you
Angry wizards who turn blue
Black cats who draw circles with chalk
And rabbits and lions ready to talk
Swish of a wand and strange words muttered
Gooey treats and hot muffins buttered
Enchanted forests and magical wells
Sneezing powders and silvery spells
A magic clock and peculiar brooms
Flyaway cottages with many rooms
Umbrellas that spank and mirrors that speak
Knockers that tell tales if you dare to peek
Brave toy soldiers and spooky towers
Flying dragons and giant flowers
Rabbit's whiskers and Teddy Bear's tail
Sturdy boat with a dainty sail
A wishing chair that can sprout wings
And take you for some adventuring
Enter the magical realm of her creation
And soar away on the wings of imagination
Witches and fairies, gnomes and elves
Alive dolls on the cupboard shelves
Strange lands up a magical tree
Pixies and goblins where roam free
Land of birthdays, balloons and claps
