Wasn't it the London production that was described as Paint Never Dries? Andrew Lloyd Webber wasn't happy with that version and the show was totally reworked for the Australian production which was released on DVD in 2011. I've got the DVD and I love it! Anna O'Byrne is wonderful as Christine. Tony and I recently saw Anna O'Byrne as Laura Fairlie in The Woman in White at the Charing Cross Theatre and she was brilliant, as were the whole cast. Another gloriously Gothic show with beautiful melodies - well worth seeing!Courtenay wrote:Dave's evocative suggestions for new shows just reminded me of when the sequel to The Phantom of the Opera, called Love Never Dies, opened in the theatres a few years ago. It was a bit of a flop and one critic in Australia was unkind enough to suggest renaming it Paint Never Dries.
What an unutterable snob you appear to be. I am also rather surprised that you can make such a statement when you've never watched it!Rob Houghton wrote:I've proudly NEVER watched it. Never watched Big Brother either. These type of 'reality' programmes are so far from reality that they are totally ridiculous. So no - nothing interests me less than so-called celebs (washed up has-been's) trying to 'entertain' on 'reality' TV. I'd rather watch paint dry.
Then, as I said to Rob, how can you criticise them?number 6 wrote:I've never watched any reality TV programme, either.
They call it "slow tv". Some of it is remarkably good. One had a camera placed at the front of a canal-boat and we were treated to a two-hour journey along a canal. I did find another, set on a bus in Wales, a tad monotonous, though.Domino wrote:Don't worry about it. Reality television shows are just a flash in the pan. They are shortly to be replaced by static television shows like "Watching Paint Dry" and "Watching Grass Grow".
Haha! It always amuses me how people can be so down on a programme, then state that they are proud to say have never watched it! I must say I think some of these programmes go on rather too long. After all, there is a limit to how many times you can pour loads of cockroaches and mealworms over somebody! Having said that, I still watch Celeb and vote each night via the app.Pete wrote:Wait till Nigel sees this thread - he'll have lots to share and comment on with us about it.

If you came out with 'our gang' - (Nigel & Co,) Rob, even though I don't drink I'd purposely order a whiskey so you'd have to get your hand in your pocket.Rob Houghton wrote:I'd be happy to share a beer or two with Nigel any day...or you, Pete...as long as I wasn't paying!!
I know - I think he made it out of acorns or something.pete9012S wrote:I'm sure Nigel won't mind me telling you this Rob, but he's brewed his own beer recently.
