Rodney Bewes R.I.P.
Sad to hear that Rodney Bewes has passed away. A great actor, who was probably best known for playing Bob Ferris in 'The likely lads', then in the sequel 'Whatever happened to the likely lads'. R.I.P. Bob!

Yes, I've just heard the news, he was only 79 too. I used to love the Likely Lads. He also used to live down here in Cornwall at one time, Cadgwith.

Very sad news. He was brilliant as a likely lad. RIP Rodney Bewes.

Keith Barron and now Rodney Bewes in the same week. R.I.P to both.

I loved watching the Likely Lads and its sequel Whatever Happened To.....
I wonder if Rodney Bewes ever made up with his co-star, James Bolam? They stopped talking to each other 40 years ago and I remember Rodney saying in a TV interview some time ago that he wished they could make it up. What a shame if he died estranged from his former co-star.

In his obituary it suggests they never did make it up.John Pickup wrote:I loved watching the Likely Lads and its sequel Whatever Happened To.....

You're right, Daisy, they never made up. What a shame. It was also the same scenario with Wilfred Brambell & Harry H Corbett in Steptoe & Son. Apparently, they both loathed each other & never spoke after the series finally ended.

Re: Rodney Bewes R.I.P.
I never really knew of Rodney Bewes, as I never watched Whatever Happened To the Likely Lads (I was only 3 or 4) and wasn't even born when the original series was aired, but I saw him on other things, and maybe a few repeats.
I was quite a fan of Keith Barron though - I was sad to hear of his death last week. I used to love the comedy 'Duty Free' when I was younger.
RIP both.

I used to watch Duty Free too, Rob. I also remember Keith Barron being interviewed on various chat shows.

Such a loss, I remember watching 'The Likely Lads' and its follow-on with such pleasure. Keith Barron, in Duty Free was also entertaining, we seem to have lost so many in recent years.

Re: Rodney Bewes R.I.P.
I've only seen one or two episodes of 'Whatever Happened To...?' and didn't really get into it. But Rodney Bewes is on fine form in the 1984 Doctor Who story, 'Resurrection of the Daleks' where he plays a timid soldier from the future, complete with subtle stammer - only to reveal he's a cloned agent of the Daleks and is rather more sinister.
