Southampton :) :) :)
Hi everyone!
I'm back online! I feel a quite guilty for not having written at all this year. My excuse? My sister (Maria Esther) tells me all of what is happening online in the EBS so without logging in I know what's happening here!
I just wanted to share with you all that I will be starting Medicine at the University of Southampton in one week! I had other university offers in Ireland and Sweden, but I decided to come to England.
I am really excited about it! My sister and my mother are coming with me for a few days to help me settle in.
Hopefully, if there is any society meeting, I'll be able to go (along with my mother and my sister if they are free those days). I can't wait to explore the surrounding countryside (Eg New Forest) which has so many associations with the novels I have read since childhood (Enid Blyton, Jane Austen...)

That is good news Maria Elena. I hope you will enjoy university life and will settle there happily. There are plans for a meeting at Exbury on May 12th so perhaps you will be able to get there. It would be good to meet you. A number of forumites are already looking forward to meeting up again.

Good to hear from you, Maria Elena! Congratulations on your university place and I hope you enjoy Southampton. As Daisy says, there are plans for a meet-up next year at Exbury, not too far away from you, so it would be lovely if we could meet you there. I'm hoping to be there if I can.

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

Not to mention the Viking Star sailing from Southampton in The Ship of Adventure, and the drama involving Kiki!

A most important fact: Chick was born in Southampton.

I didn't know about the links between Enid Blyton and her books with Southampton, thank you for telling me. That will make my stay even more enjoyable, I love to be in places that remind me if the books I have read and the writers I like!Rob Houghton wrote:and of course, Enid sailed from Southampton on The Queen Elizabeth, I think?
